Here is a very big summary about the book and it's characters(it's in the comments section). If you don't want to know about the book and you want to read the book yourself, DO NOT LOOK IN THE COMMENTS SECTION!
A Week in the Woods has a very interesting plot because it’s a story about two people who hated each other in the beginning and became friends in the end. It’s about a boy named Mark and his science teacher named Mr.Maxwell. They both aren’t very friendly to each other. Then, they go to a field trip called “a week in the woods. That’s when the tension rises. The tension dies when Mark runs away ,because Mr.Maxwell blames Mark for bringing a knife when Mark was taking the blame for his friend, Jason. Mr.Maxwell follows and gets hurt and that’s how the tension dies. That’s why I enjoy the plot in A Week in the Woods. “ ‘Mr.Maxwell?’ he called. Mr.Maxwell stopped and turned around. ‘I...I’ll see you on Monday.’ Mr.Maxwell smiled and nodded. ‘You bet,Mark. See you on Monday.’ “(P.186)
Mr.Maxwell is one of the main characters in A Week in the Woods. He is a sturdy- well built man. He got his major on education. He is a science teacher at Hardy Elementary School. Although he is a great teacher , he is a very stubborn man and has very strong opinions about his students. Those are some few facts about Mr.Maxwell, one of the main characters in A Week in the Woods. Mark is another main character in A Week in the Woods. He just moved to Scarsdale, New Hampshire and is transitioning very slowly. He is a very amusing character because he is very similar to Mr.Maxwell, but he and Mr.Maxwell are rivals. He is also very stubborn, quite similar to Mr.Maxwell. Those are a few facts about Mark, the other two main character in A Week in the Woods. Mr.Maxwell gets very mad at Mark when they get to the field trip in the woods. Kids nor teachers were allowed to bring any type of knife, dull or not. When Mark’s friend brought a knife and showed it to Mark, while Mark was examining it Mr.Maxwell came in to check to see if everyone was okay, Mark quickly hid it. Right when Mr.Maxwell was about to leave, he saw that Mark was hiding the knife. Mark got caught and said to his friend that he would get in less trouble than Jason would. Later, Mark runs away with a plan that he thought would work. But, his plan doesn’t work and he gets lost. Soon after, Mr.Maxwell finds out that it was Mark’s friend that brought the knife and he runs after Mark. But, he soon twists his ankle, luckily he finds Mark and Mark tends for him. Right after Mr.Maxwell feels strong enough to walk, they both walk back to the camp and have pancakes. Everything turns out to be just right! Mr.Maxwell and Mark become friends, The friend gets a little scolding from Mr.Maxwell and all is happy. That’s what happened in the woods.
Here is the rest, it still needs 2 paragraphs and 1 sentence... A Week in the Woods gives a lot of examples of how Mark and Mr.Maxwell are similar and different. Mark is a very wondrous and intelligent character because he came up with the idea of sleeping in the barn. I think that was a very good idea because there he made many decisions. He made a decision that he would go to A Week in the Woods. He also realized that he was being a brat and decided that he was going to be a better person. Mark loves the outdoors, he even decided to sleep in the barn. Lastly, he decided that he was going to make friends, he made a friend named Jason and stood up for him. That’s why I think he is such a wondrous character. Mr.Maxwell is a very intriguing character, he has very interesting opinions and loves the outdoors and teaching. He has many opinions about Mark, a new student at his school. He thinks that Mark is a slacker. Mr.Maxwell is also very intelligent, he made a case file for Mark deciding whether Mark was a slacker or a regular kid. His initial major was Environmental Studies, but after a fair, he changed it to education. He said that it was almost as good as the environment, but still chose to be a teacher. That is why Mr.Maxwell is such an intriguing character. Everybody is similar and different but Mark and Mr.Maxwell are more similar then they are different and they don’t even realize it until they go to the field trip. Mark is a person that really likes the the outdoors, he did many research on camping. Mr.Maxwell also loves the outdoors, he first was going to have Environmental Studies as his initial major. I think that both Mark and Mr.Maxwell have very different character traits too. Mark is a little shy and he doesn’t get many friends until the middle of the book. Mr.Maxwell is a type of guy who really likes people who are friendly and caring. When Mark takes the blame for Jason and Mr.Maxwell finds out that it really was Jason who brought the knife, Mr.Maxwell really feels bad that he was being so hard on Mark. I think that both Mark and Mr.Maxwell evolved throughout the book. They both started out loathing each other. Mr.Maxwell gave Mark some chances but then finally cut the case when he ruined the Hindenburg experiment. When they both went to the forest, their relationship became very strong. That’s how Mr.Maxwell and Mark evolved.
